Bath Life Awards: Price of Bath wins Sustainability Award!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Price of Bath has been awarded the Sustainability Award at the 2025 Bath Life Awards! This recognition is a proud moment for our small, family-run team, and a powerful acknowledgement of the work we’ve been doing to change the future of tennis ball manufacturing for the better.
Our Sustainable Tennis Ball Mission
The Bath Life Awards are the most prestigious and tightly contested honours held each year in the city, with local businesses competing in a large variety of different categories. We were thrilled to be acknowledged with the Sustainability Award, given to the Bath company or organisation which has been demonstrably thoughtful about its approach to sustainability.
We were delighted to have our efforts in this area celebrated. Founded in 1936, Price of Bath has remained true to our roots in British innovation and craftsmanship while embracing a sustainability-driven vision for the 21st century.
Our flagship innovation, the Phoenix tennis ball, made headlines in 2021 as the world’s first fully recycled tennis ball. Since then, it has grown a following of eco-conscious players and clubs. This ball was the first of its kind, with our process using the whole tennis ball leaving no waste behind. With this addition to the tennis world, we point towards a future where tennis balls no longer contribute to polluting the planet.

Leading in Tennis Sustainability
But our ambitions at Price haven’t stopped there. In 2024, we launched Phoenix Padel, the world’s first recycled padel ball, and incorporated recycled materials across all of our tennis and dog ball lines. We’re now the only ball manufacturer in the world able to produce this kind of comprehensive recycled offering.
We have also made headway on a tournament quality pressureless ball in an endeavour to eliminate the need for plastic tubes. Recycled rubber tennis court seating, as well as floor, coaster and tablemats are also in development. Watch this space!
Beyond products, we’ve championed sustainability education through talks with clubs, STEM collaborations with local schools in Bath and Trowbridge, and an exhibition with the Museum of Bath at Work exploring our unique heritage and role in the future of sport.
To us, sustainability is more than a trend—it’s been part of our DNA for nearly 90 years. We’re still using machines from 1936, and our factory runs on collected roof water. We repair before we replace. And with every product we make, we ask: how can we do it better, more ethically, and with less impact on the planet?
We’d like to thank the Bath Life Awards judges for recognising our mission and the extraordinary work of our team. As they stated, we have “led tennis sustainability and expanded its eco-friendly products range and partnerships… an absolute gem of a business.” And, thanks go out to the players, partners and clubs who have supported our initiatives. Together, we’re proving that sustainability in tennis is very much possible!
