Covid 19 Restrictions Create Innovations For Squash 57

With squash courts closed due to the Coronavirius pandemic Squash and Squash47/Racketball players have had to find creative ways to get back to their favourite sports. Tennis was one of the first sporting activities to re-open to the public and so The Woodford Wells Club (WWC) in Essex (UK) wanted to encourage their squash players on to their 11 tennis courts. They experimented playing a version of tennis using Squash57 equipment and the only real problem was that the black and blue balls proved too hard to see against the green courts. Price of Bath were only too happy to come to the rescue with our fluorescent Pink Squash57 ball! With the pink ball standing out perfectly on the tennis courts the WWC were able to press on and quickly schedule competitions over the summer months. Christening their new hybrid game Tennis57 a brand new sport was born!

A World First!

On July 26th the WWC held the world’s first Tennis57 Singles Championships with over 20 tennis, squash and squash57 players participating. The Price of Bath pink Squash57 balls survived the tennis courts extremely well, not wearing out and not disappearing through the back netting. Even a downpour of rain at the start of day did not fluff them up which was a great result! It turned out that Tennis57 was a great leveller, no booming serves and the spinning Price Squash57 ball reacting differently to a tennis ball on the court surface. It all made for a fun day and everyone agreed it was great way to finally get out and get active again.

The Rules of Tennis57

If your area is currently under Covid restrictions that are stopping you from playing Squash57 indoors you may like to have a go yourself at playing Tennis57 yourself. The WWC have very kindly provided us with their copy of the rules they devised so everyone can now give it a go, who knows it might just catch on!
